DISCOGRAPHY

THERE AND NOT THERE

Dan’s sixth studio album was released in 2021 as the world was in lock down. Most of the songs were written while Dan was holed up inside, but several were older songs that he’d never quite finished. Working for a second time with producer/songwriter Adam Lindquist, the album features some of Dan’s best songs including "Move Me", "We’re Beautiful" and "Little Dinosaur". It also includes "A Fake James Bond", a songwriting collaboration with guitarist Ted Looby and a haunting cover of Prince’s "Sometimes It Snows In April" featuring The Celestials.

Musicians: Ted Looby, Adam Lindquist, Clare Byrne, Amy Larimer, Nick Leichter, Ting Geng.

THE FLYING RIVER

The album title and title track were inspired by an ecological phenomenon called a flying river. It is how scientists refer to the mass of water vapor always present above a rain forest. This beautiful imagery lended itself well to a concept for a song about life’s journeys. The album was pieced together in Brooklyn with producer Adam Lindquist and in Vermont with Gus Ziesing at Low Tech Studio. The cover art features a photo of Dan’s great grandparents in Sicily.
Musicians: Adam Lindquist, Amy Larimer, Clare Byrne: Ian Koehler, Kate McGuire, Mark Spencer (Son Volt), Ted Looby

FRANK ROAD

Released in 2018, Frank Road is a collection of songs that Dan began writing in the Catskill Mountain region of New York surrounded by the woods and echoes of The Band. The recordings were produced in his home studio in Brooklyn and at Cold Brook Studios in Woodstock under the watchful eye of legendary producer, Julie Last.

Musicians: Raymond Russell, Kyle Esposito, Seth B. Travins, Dimitri Moderbacher, Ted Looby, Remy de Laroque, Guy “Fooch” Fuschetti, Eric Parker, Ian Solomon, Julie Last

CIRCLES

In 2008, Dan joined forces with producer Royce Jeffres (Sting, Beyonce) to record “Circles” at NYC’s famed Edison Studios. On this record, Dan wanted to dive deeper into folk, country and indie rock, tapping influences like Uncle Tupelo and Lucinda Williams. The album features the hauntingly beautiful “Open and Shut” with Dan’s brother Marc on trumpet.

Musicians: Ted Looby, Mary Fifield, Matt Haden Seth Travins, Bill Konig Kate McGuire, Todd Talbot, Marc Strauss

Rocking Chair

In 2005, Dan worked with producer Cyrille Taillandier (Lenny Kravitz, Angelique Kidjo, Kanye West, Le Tigre). Together, they created a sonic ladnscape that reflected the full spectrum of Dan’s musical influences. They set out to explore the "wall of sound" concept, “Pet Sounds”-esque ear candy pleasures throughout the record. One of the standout tracks, “Our Souls”, is a tip of the hat to one of Dan's most beloved songwriters, John Lennon.

Musicians: Bill Konig, Pascal Lajoye, Fabrice Calmettes, Larry Lelli, Kate Mcguire, Matt McGrail

INK THE OCTOPUS

Ink The Octopus is a 5-song EP collaboration with singer/songwriter Remy de Laroque. “Avenue A” and “Venus and Mercury” are Dan’s two original contributions to the EP.

Renting Happiness

Dan’s first studio release (2001) showcase his love of hook-filled folk and rock. The title of the album came one day as he was entering a video store to rent the film "Happiness" starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman. It struck him that he was "renting happiness". This led to the writing of the title track.

Musicians: Bill Konig, James Maher, Dan Fielding, Matt McGrail
